Meal Plan Friday 1st January 2021

 We have a new year and it seems like nothing is changing. The kids were meant to be going back to school but their primary has had to close which means we are back to homeschool and for how long we do not know.

We are back to more normal food now as we managed to eat up all the gammon and turkey and had no food waste which was really good.

Friday - Beef Pie, mash, and green veg the boys will have chicken pie. These are brought in

Saturday - Canneloni for us with garlic bread and salad. The boys will have ravioli.

Sunday - French Style Chicken

BBC Good Food French style chicken peas bacon

Monday - Risotto mushroom, I bake this in the oven

Tuesday - Pasta, mozzarella and tomato sauce this is a very light dish

Wednesday - Chicken keiv, mini roasts, and greens

Thursday - Thai Prawn and pineapple rice

    Well done on avoiding food waste - I know Christmas is often one of the worst times for it. We avoided it too, apart from 4 samosas which accidentally went bad in the fridge!

    Sounds like you're eating well, I hope the homeschooling goes good! x

    Nope nothing much has changed here either. We're all still home. My fella was supposed to be back to work tomorrow but we'll have to see what Boris says later on.
    We have gammon on the meal plan this week. I didn't get any over Christmas and really fancied some.

    Oooh well done, I was lacking a meal (and inspiration !) to finish off my menu plan this week and you've just reminded me that I have a bag of cannelloni in the cupboard, ready to stuff ! I'm tempted by the French chicken too but I'm not sure about cooing lettuce - is it nice? I think the kids would turn up their noses ! lol

I can not believe the day had finally arrived, the trees we had put so much thought into were going to be planted. We had the conifer and last shrubs removed and the whole area dug over and ready for the arrival of the LolliPop Trees Elaeagnus ebbingei. Pleached Trees - Higher Privacy Solution

As you are aware we have had the new fence put in and are trying to find some ways to gain some privacy back, the new garden fence . Today I took the boys on a trip to one of my favourite places to look at trees and plants. English Woodlands located at Cross in Hand, East Sussex. We brought our laurel plants from them about 4 years ago, they were extremely good plants healthy, strong and have since flourished. As a nursery, they helped us choose what we needed and even told us to buy smaller ones as they would grow so fast, saving us money. I have been looking online and wondered if pleached trees maybe an answer to our height issue. What they should do is bring height to the fence but still allow light in. Bulb Rescue

Plants amaze me all the time, this morning I was tidying up and found a upturned pot. Under the pot I found bulbs that had fallen out but had started to grow leaves. They had no soil and still, these plucky little bulbs were wanting to grow. No soil and abandoned  Growing with no soil So I have attempted a rescue mission using things I could quickly find. I found a little old terracotta pot and some stones. Old Pot Few stones I had no compost (shocking I know) but I did have a huge molehill, so I grabbed some soil from that and filled the pot just over half full.
